Carolina Foothills Foundation's CEO and President, Rita Burch, announced “It is our pleasure to advise you that The Carolina Foothills Foundation has awarded a grant in the amount of $200,000.00 to the City of Saluda, North Carolina. This one-year grant was made in support of the Outdoor Educational Facility for McCreery Park and the phased renovations to the park space and access improvements for the community.”

Commissioner Mark Oxtoby was instrumental in explaining the needs of Saluda to the Foundation. The two organizations share mutual hope that Saluda’s McCreery Park will become the focal point of downtown and entrance corridor to the Saluda Grade Trail within the city. The Outdoor Educational Facility will be an important component of McCreery Park for the public, providing a space that allows access to learning opportunities that may not be possible in other educational settings.

The McCreery Park Project is an organic space that will evolve through public input and the vision and guidance of The Friends of McCreery Park Foundation. The City of Saluda anticipates that this project will take two years to complete and will be built out in four phases. The longevity of McCreery Park's relevance to societal needs and the space it offers for societal development will be key factors in determining its success.
